The Rt Hon Sir John Hayes CBE MP is looking for a part-time Parliamentary Assistant to join his office in Westminster (Tuesday and Wednesday).
The main duties include:
* Supporting Sir John's Senior Parliamentary Assistant in running his Westminster office
* Supporting Sir John's constituency office
* Attending and participating in meetings as appropriate
* Researching on a variety of topics and briefing Sir John
* Assisting with writing speeches and newspaper articles, both local and national
* Assisting with Common Sense Group research and organising events
* Arranging occasional events, dinners, and so on
* Monitoring legislation, Hansard, and other Parliamentary procedures
* Assisting with APPG duties
* Maintaining and updating Sir John's website
* Responding to some policy/constituency casework
There may be a requirement for the role holder to work outside of normal working hours.
This would be an ideal role for an undergraduate or recent graduate, or someone with Parliamentary experience who is looking to further their career in Westminster.
The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of Parliamentary procedure. He or she will be sympathetic to the aims and values of the Conservative Party and be available to start as soon as possible.
