Job Summary
The Emergency & Integrated Medicine Specialties (ICSU) is looking to recruit a Patient Pathway Co‑ordinator. We are seeking a highly motivated and organised individual to join a busy team. This is an ideal opportunity for a proactive and self‑motivated individual who enjoys working in a fast‑paced environment. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and an ability to work under pressure is essential to the role. The role will support the clinical team and improve the patient pathway.
The ideal candidate will have NHS experience and a flexible approach to work.
Main Duties
The PPC will assist the patient throughout their hospital experience to ensure that care provided is timely, efficient and appropriate in regards to all members of the healthcare/multidisciplinary team. The PPC is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient management of the patient throughout their pathway; giving the patient a single point of contact for their appointments, ensuring the patients and carer experience is central to every stage of the patient journey, and ensuring potential breaches of RTT (referral to treatment) waiting times targets are avoided or escalated to the relevant manager.

Job Responsibilities
* Ensure safe and efficient management of patient administrative processes throughout their pathway; acting as a single point of contact.
* Centralise patients and carer experience at every stage of the journey.
* Identify and escalation potential breaches of RTT waiting‑time targets to relevant manager.
* Work closely with MDT coordinators, patient booking team and clinic teams to manage and track patients proactively.
* Support data quality, validation and ensure all patients have recorded pathway start dates.
* Provide medical secretarial support to clinical teams within PPC grouping.
Person Specification
Essential – Education / Qualifications
* Minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent including English and Mathematics.
* NVQ level 3 in Business Administration or Customer Care or equivalent experience.
Desirable
* A‑Level or equivalent experience.
* One year’s experience working in a similar role in a hospital/health‑care setting.
Essential – Skills & Abilities
* Respond compassionately to patient enquiries.
* Review patient level data to manage waiting lists.
* Operationalise national and local waiting‑list policies to meet national targets.
* Excellent writing skills for recording in hospital systems.
* Knowledge of confidentiality and data protection principles.
* Manage consultant schedules against appointments.
* Maintain electronic filing systems to optimise organisation.
* Excellent time‑management and organising skills.
* Demonstrate tenacity in dealing with issues.
* IT literate.

* Experience and knowledge of working in the NHS.
