Location: Hethel Engineering Centre, Chapman Way, Hethel, Norfolk NR14 8FP (3 days a week onsite)

About the Role
Are you passionate about electric machine design and eager to lead the development of next-generation electric motors? Our client is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. You will be responsible for the mechanical design, thermal performance, and integration of electric motors within our innovative products, ensuring robust, manufacturable solutions from concept through to production.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead the mechanical design and integration of electric machines, including rotor construction, structural integrity, and housing design.
2. Develop and validate thermal management strategies using air cooling.
3. Own the design and integration of key motor components (permanent magnets, flux paths, stator windings, insulation systems).
4. Integrate speed, position, and temperature sensing solutions.
5. Collaborate with electromagnetic and control teams to translate performance targets into practical designs.
