An exciting opportunity to join the NIHR Clinical Research Facility at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as a CRF Research Fellow.
This post, based in the NIHR St George's CRF, is suitable for a dynamic individual seeking to broaden their experience and training in clinical trials, with an option to develop a small personal research project as part of obtaining the PgCert in Healthcare Research Skills and Methods.
It is a fixed one-year position, starting in August 2025, for someone who has completed Foundation Training or equivalent. The role is fully based within St George's NIHR CRF, working across various adult medical specialties, undertaking activities related to running clinical trials.
The successful candidate will also be expected to undertake a small personal research project in an area of interest under supervision. Depending on interests, there may be opportunities to gain experience in outpatient clinics; however, ward-based clinical service is not included.
Main duties of the job
The fellow will be based in the St George's NIHR Clinical Research Facility, working under the supervision of principal investigators across a range of adult medical specialties, including Diabetes and Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Rheumatology, Neurology, and others. The focus will be on early-phase (I and II) clinical trials, with potential exposure to later-phase research.
This role is ideal for someone interested in gaining experience in clinical and translational research, including trial design and implementation. Responsibilities include assisting with study feasibility and setup, recruiting trial candidates, performing supervised trial procedures, monitoring outcomes, and supporting clinical staff with inquiries.
While based in the CRF, the fellow will also be involved in inpatient clinical trials and must manage their time effectively to attend to ward-based interventions as needed.
