Matchtech is working with a key client to recruit two DPEs for a high-profile railway project in Toronto.
These roles require successful candidates to relocate to Toronto.
The ideal candidate will assist the project manager and team with project documentation, control, job cost accounting, scheduling, and construction supervision. The candidate should be comfortable handling multiple tasks, prioritizing effectively, and possessing a diverse skill set.
Responsibilities
1. Implement rail systems and procedures to ensure a cost-effective, high-quality, safe, and environmentally responsible approach to design, commissioning, and technical activities, complying with relevant legislation. Liaise with regulators and stakeholders as needed.
2. Engineer projects according to client standards, specifications, and contracts, ensuring compliance with company standards and procedures.
3. Manage engineering activities to deliver schemes that are affordable, meet schedules, and adhere to safety and environmental standards regarding time, cost, and quality.
4. Apply risk assessment techniques, including HAZOP analysis, and manage environmental aspects in line with the client's policies.
5. Monitor design and construction activities of consultants and contractors.
6. Provide project management advice on testing, commissioning, and site supervision. Ensure design and construction meet current legislation and regulations.
7. Ensure internal and contractor personnel are competent.
8. Review design activities and conduct audits to monitor safety, environment, and quality standards during design, testing, and commissioning.
9. Perform duties as the designated project engineer (DPE) for specific projects.
10. Share best practices across project teams.
The Ideal Candidate
1. Relevant experience in signalling engineering, with involvement in multi-disciplinary design projects.
2. Technical qualifications at HNC/HND level or equivalent GNVQ.
3. Knowledge of quality assurance processes.
4. Understanding of independent assessment procedures.
5. Membership of a relevant professional body with chartered status and/or a degree.
6. Knowledge of safety case structuring for projects.
7. Awareness of environmental issues in engineering.
