Graduate Assistant Accountant– £28,000 DOE – Permanent – West Bridgford – Full Time – Monday – Friday
Harper Recruitment Group are working in partnership with a well established and fast growing business. They are looking for a Graduate Assistant Accountant to support the finance team with month end reporting, reconciliations, VAT, stock, and commercial analysis. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated graduate looking to build a career within management accounts in a commercial environment.
Responsibilities
* Supporting the preparation of accurate month end management accounts
* Assisting with weekly stock takes and stock management, including adjustments and analysis
* Posting monthly prepayments and accruals journals
* Posting general journals as required
* Reviewing overheads to ensure accuracy and correct allocation
* Completing month end bank reconciliations
* Daily cash posting
* Preparing monthly balance sheet reconciliations
* Preparing and submitting monthly VAT returns
* Updating and maintaining the Fixed Asset Register
* Assisting with preparation of cash flow forecasts
* Producing key sales and production reports daily, weekly and monthly
* Supporting the Lead Management Accountant with ongoing tasks and projects
* Contributing to process improvements across the finance function
* Assisting with the preparation of the annual budget
* Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to support operational needs
* Completing supplier payment runs
* Providing ad hoc support to the finance department as required
Qualifications
* A recent graduate in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics or a related discipline
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and solve problems
* Able to work to strict deadlines in a fast paced environment
* High level of attention to detail with strong organisational skills
* Process driven with the ability to challenge existing methods and support improvements
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to prioritise workload
* Confident, motivated and eager to learn within a commercial finance environment
* Strong IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
* Interest in progressing with AAT/ACCA/CIMA study support
