Southampton City Council is seeking a Family Practitioner for its Fostering Service. The successful candidate must hold a Level 4 qualification (BTEC, NVQ or equivalent) in Education, Health, Social Care or Early Years, or be committed to working towards one.
Responsibilities
* Commit to the protection and safeguarding of children, young people and vulnerable adults, valuing and respecting their views and needs.
* Contribute to the development of the team and service, ensuring service users receive effective services in line with agreed performance standards and anti‑discriminatory practice.
* Participate in individual and group supervision and training to meet team and departmental performance standards and develop professional skills.
* Ensure written records are accurate and kept in accordance with Data Protection requirements and department policies and procedures.
* Maintain accountability for own workload and arising issues, ensuring individual and team performance is maintained and addressed.
* Be creative and prioritise multiple issues, demonstrating excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills.
* Possess excellent IT skills, including proficiency in Excel, Word and other databases.
* Exhibit accurate written communication, able to produce clear and concise reports and presentations.
The role requires lone working, the use of initiative and a commitment to team working and service user empowerment. A flexible approach and solid understanding and experience of a Family Lead Professional case‑holding role, risk assessment and planning are essential.
