Strategy Manager - Climate and Nature
Location: Edinburgh (Waverley Court). Salary: £65,184 - £77,845. Hours: 36 per week, 52 weeks.
This role leads a dynamic team to support Edinburgh's ambitions to tackle the twin climate and nature crises. As Climate and Nature Strategy Manager, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing the delivery of both the Council's and the city's ambitions to be a low carbon, climate-ready and nature-positive city. The role involves working with key stakeholders and partners across the city, advising senior leadership and elected members, and engaging with communities on key decisions the council must take to drive forward this ambitious agenda.
Responsibilities
* Deliver and report on key external and internal strategies, including but not limited to:
o 2030 Climate Strategy
o Climate Ready Edinburgh Plan
o Council Emissions Reduction Plan
Lead and contribute to a wide range of city-wide initiatives, including the Local Heat and Energy Efficiency Strategy, City Mobility Plan, City Plan 2030, Housing Strategy, Regional EV strategy, Edinburgh Biodiversity Action Plan and Edinburgh Nature Network. Contribute to the just transition agenda, including poverty and equalities. The post holder will work to ensure alignment across the organisation and with partners to deliver the climate and nature agenda.
Qualifications and Skills
* Strong leadership and people-management capabilities.
* Excellent communication and engagement skills.
* Appreciation of political and council landscapes and the risks and challenges of the twin climate and nature emergencies.
* Ability to work with diverse stakeholders and advise senior leadership and elected members.
* Experience in strategic planning, policy development and programme delivery in a complex public sector environment.
