Role Overview
The Estates Hard FM Team is responsible for the day‑to‑day repairs, planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and operational testing of a wide range of building services and equipment across the Trust. The Electrical Craftsperson will work within the in‑house electrical maintenance team and coordinate directly with electrical contractors to ensure the electrical reliability of Mile End and Royal London Hospital Retained Estates.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage all statutory electrical repairs and maintenance across the estates, ensuring compliance with HTMs, Electrical Regulations, ACOPs and Trust policies.
* Carry out PPM and reactive maintenance (RM) on plant, equipment, generators, refrigeration, air‑conditioning and air‑handling systems.
* Perform minor works, major overhauls and replacement tasks in a complex building services environment.
* Act as a Competent Person (CP) in accordance with NHS HTM guidance.
* Coordinate with contractors and internal teams to facilitate the day‑to‑day running of Estates services.
* Participate in the Estates emergency on‑call rota, including out‑of‑hours work across all Barts Health Trust sites.
Qualifications & Experience
* Recognised building services electrical apprenticeship or equivalent.
* Post‑qualification experience working in a complex building services environment.
* Strong ability to work independently and undertake planned preventive and reactive maintenance.
* Knowledge of statutory maintenance works and relevant NHS HTM guidance.
Working Conditions
The role includes participation in an on‑call rota that may involve out‑of‑hours work across all Barts Health Trust sites.
