New Directions Education is proud to be supporting a SEMH provision in Manchester that is looking to welcome an SEMH Nature Teacher from September 2025. The ideal SEMH Nurture Teacher will work across a two schools teaching KS3 students with SEMH & Complex Needs. Working with small groups of up to 8 pupils, the SEMH Nurture Teacher will teach Maths and English to KS2/ KS3 level. Experience of teaching pupils with SEMH & Complex Needs in Specialist Provision such as: SEMH Schools, Alternative Provisions or PRU Schools is desirable. This full-time role is working across a number of sites in Manchester.
Key Responsibilities of SEMH Nurture Teacher
• Teaching KS3 pupils with SEMH & Complex Needs
• Teaching a range of subjects including Maths/ English to KS2/3
• Working with other teachers, support staff as well as outside agencies to ensure the highest level of teaching and learning for hard to reach students
• Planning, teaching and assessing across the curriculum
Personal Specification of SEMH Nurture Teacher
• Hold UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Have a strong understanding of SEND Needs such as: SEMH & Complex Needs
• Have at least a years experience working in SEMH (Alternative Provision, SEMH School, PRU or Mainstream School)
• Have a strong ability to forge relationships with pupils that are hard to reach
• Have a strong understanding of behaviour management – through de-escalation techniques
