Job Purpose
The Applications Engineer is responsible for driving and supporting the development of fuel injection test solutions for Hartridge Ltd and OE partner approved solutions from concept through to completion. This hands‑on role requires a self‑starter proficient in both workshop and office settings, writing specifications, analysing data, and leading formal meetings.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as Lead Engineer on Hartridge R&D projects
* Develop functional specifications and concepts for new products and accessories
* Design and execute experiments to validate/verify new machine and control concepts
* Write project technical documentation (specifications, timing plans, acceptance test procedures, user manuals, application guides)
* Liaise with internal and external customers to ensure mutual requirements are fulfilled
Qualifications / Education
* Degree‑qualified engineer with 3+ years of engineering experience
* Alternatively, HNC/HND in an engineering discipline
* Full UK driving licence
* Eligible to work in the UK
Experience / Skills
* Product development (NPI/NPD) experience in an engineering environment
* Strong technical specification development
* Knowledge of hydraulic and electrical control systems
* Experience developing test techniques, executing them and analysing data using equipment such as oscilloscopes
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and data processing tools
* Ability to read technical drawings and understand mechanical design principles
* Effective communication with business functions and external customers
* Knowledge of Diesel Common Rail and Gasoline Direct fuel injection systems
* Project management tools and techniques
* Basic CAD experience (opening drawings and assemblies)
Desirable (Non‑essential)
* Vehicle control systems and fuel injection systems expertise
* Hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical assemblies and electrical layouts experience
* DFM/DFA, VA/VE, FMEA knowledge
* Knowledge of CI tools
