At Sodexo, we’re looking for a dynamic Assistant Operations Manager to lead and inspire a diverse team delivering high-quality Integrated Facilities Management (IFM) services acrossthe University of Greenwich campuses (Avery Hill, Greenwich). This includes overseeing student accommodation services and contributing to the success of the summer school programme. You’ll play a key role in maintaining service excellence, meeting contractual KPIs and SLAs, and upholding Sodexo’s values in alignment with the university’s mission. What you’ll do: Lead and motivate teams of cleaners and porters to deliver exceptional services with a clear strategic focus. Ensure all services are delivered efficiently, proactively, and within budget, while exceeding quality expectations. Manage performance across all operational areas, including daily reviews, appraisals, and team development plans. Maintain consistent, clear communication with stakeholders, clients, and team members. Drive compliance with health and safety policies, periodic PPM schedules, and cleaning standards. Control and manage the use of materials, consumables, and third-party contractor services (e.g. pest control, window cleaning). Monitor employee attendance, payroll (via Kronos/UDC), and support HR processes, including recruitment, induction, and performance management. Support and coordinate lifecycle projects, summer operations, and term-end inspections in collaboration with the FM team and university departments. Promote employee engagement using recognition tools and effective team communication (e.g. huddles, monthly meetings). Identify cost-saving opportunities and manage service budgets effectively with clear reporting and mitigation strategies. Lead innovation by analysing data, identifying improvement areas, and implementing new procedures. Experienced in managing and planning shifts for large events Experience of using time management and payroll applications, including resource planning Extensive experience of COSHH regulations Have a good understanding of risk assessments and safe systems of work.
