Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Location: Nottingham Salary: £40,000 - £52,000 A multi-disciplinary building services consultancy is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Nottingham office. This is a key role within an established team, offering the opportunity to lead mechanical design on a variety of technically complex and sustainability-focused projects. Role Overview The successful candidate will work across a wide range of sectors including healthcare, education, residential, commercial, industrial, and zero-carbon developments. You will be responsible for leading mechanical aspects of projects, managing client relationships, and contributing to the development of junior engineers. Key Responsibilities * Lead mechanical engineering design from feasibility to construction stages * Act as Project Leader on selected schemes and support senior staff across others * Produce high-quality mechanical designs, specifications, reports and calculations * Attend and contribute to client and design team meetings * Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure integrated solutions * Guide and support junior engineers with technical and project delivery * Assist with client presentations and project delivery strategy * Contribute to a culture of continuous technical improvement and innovation Key Requirements * Degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering (or HNC/HND with relevant experience) * Minimum 3–4 years' experience in mechanical design within the built environment * Strong knowledge of building services regulations and relevant British/European Standards * Proficiency in design software including Revit, AutoCAD, Relux/Dialux, Amtech, and Microsoft Office * Experience working with or awareness of HTMs, HV/LV systems, and renewable technologies * Understanding of low-carbon and sustainable design principles * Chartered status or working towards professional membership (e.g. CIBSE) * Strong verbal and written communication skills What’s on Offer * Competitive salary and benefits package * Agile and flexible working arrangements * Career development opportunities and support for professional progression * Involvement in technically challenging, high-profile projects * Generous annual leave, with options to buy or sell additional days * Enhanced maternity/paternity and sick pay schemes * Cycle to work scheme and electric vehicle scheme * Team social events, charity involvement, and wellbeing initiatives
