Overview
JBT currently has a great opportunity for an Engineering Operations Manager to join the ACS Team in Sutton Weaver. Your role based in Sutton Weaver will be to support significant client demand and strategic partnerships for our AutoCoding portfolio. We need to grow the structure within our project engineering team. The day-to-day duties will include managing customer communications, leading project activities and planning across various projects, managing supplier relationships, and assessing team skills and training needs. The role requires onboarding new employees to assist with planning functions and recruiting a replacement field engineer. There will be a need to visit customer sites to determine project flow and solutions, and to install software, hardware, and system components across the UK, Europe, and possibly the USA and other regions.
Key Tasks and Accountabilities:
* Managing onboarding of new projects and ensuring smooth day-to-day project operations.
* Creating and communicating project plans to customers and the engineering team to ensure projects stay within budget.
* Onboarding and collaborating with the new planning function to delegate duties.
* Recruiting a replacement field-based engineer.
* Ensuring quality standards and safe working practices are maintained and improved.
* Managing key supplier relationships and supply chain requirements.
* Conducting reviews with engineers to promote skill development and address issues.
* Collaborating with AutoCoding teams to understand new initiatives and prepare the team accordingly.
* Leading projects at site level when necessary to facilitate skills transfer.
* Serving as the second line escalation point for customer challenges on projects.
* Monitoring budgets and discussing variances.
Qualifications/Experience:
* Proven experience managing service/project teams.
* Hands-on project management experience.
* Strong leadership and team management skills.
* Minimum NVQ Level 3 in a relevant electrical discipline.
* Mechanical skills and experience.
* Willingness to learn and use company-specific and third-party software systems.
* Training skills for end users and project teams.
* Full UK passport and UK driving license.
* Knowledge of Microsoft SQL tools (SSRS, SSAS, SSIS), industrial devices, communication protocols, project management methodologies (Prince2, Agile), PLC skills (Allen Bradley, Omron, Siemens), TCP/IP networks, and vision devices (Sick, Cognex, Omron) is beneficial.
* Additional language skills (German, Spanish, French) are a plus.
