Job responsibilities
* Ensuring high‑quality nursing care is coordinated and delivered. Embedding continuous improvement in all that you do.
* Working as part of a cohesive multidisciplinary team to ensure patient care is delivered smoothly, efficiently and safely.
* Developing competence and confidence in the Band 5 role through hands‑on clinical practice, education, training and research.
This role requires individuals who remain calm under pressure, possess good problem‑solving and interpersonal skills, and have an empathetic nature.
Applicants must be able to provide specialist, clinical, social and holistic care to patients in a pre‑hospital environment. The Isle of Wight’s unique geographic location offers opportunities to practice autonomously and to develop new clinical skills in areas such as intubation, pre‑hospital sepsis treatment with antibiotics and thrombolysis.
The daily activity will involve working in a multidisciplinary setting, undertaking critical transfers via hovercraft, car ferry and other cross‑Solent options while caring for patients for extended periods.
Applicants must be able to work a fully rotating shift pattern, including days, late and night shifts, seven days a week with public holidays. Day shifts may start as early as 07:30 am.

Qualifications and Skills & Knowledge
* Registered nurse with current NMC registration, holding a diploma, advanced diploma or newly qualified nurse status.
* Registered nurse currently studying for an Adult Nursing Degree due to qualify in 2026.
* Clinically competent with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to listen, communicate effectively via various routes, prioritise workload and direct others.
* Awareness of research and evidence‑based practice relevant to the clinical area.
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and requires a Disclosure and Barring Service check to confirm no previous criminal convictions.
Salary and Benefits
£32,073 to £39,043 per annum, pro‑rata.
