Job Title: Practitioner Psychologist
Location: Underley Gardens School – Kirkby Lonsdale (3 days) and other sites as listed
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday (overlaps with core school hours). Full or part-time hours considered. Contract: Permanent (Term time only, or flexibility around full-time contract can be discussed).
The role
We are looking for a Practitioner Psychologist to join our in-house clinical team at Underley Gardens school. Working collaboratively with the education team, you will deliver psychological assessment and intervention to pupils who may have experienced developmental trauma, be neurodivergent, or have SEMH needs. You will work within the standards provided in the OFG Psychological Practice Ways of Working, guiding your practice within an education setting and clarifying roles and responsibilities in line with governing and professional bodies. You will hold a psychological caseload with support from your designated clinical supervisor and the site lead, and contribute to school development, staff training and consultation as required. Key duties and responsibilities
* Deliver psychological assessment and intervention for pupils with developmental trauma, neurodivergence or SEMH needs.
* Hold and manage a psychological caseload with supervision and site leadership support.
* Contribute to school development, staff training and consultation.
* Follow the OFG Psychological Practice Ways of Working and ensure compliance with professional standards.
* Collaborate with education teams and other professionals to enhance service delivery.
Essential criteria
* HCPC registration.
* Doctoral level degree in Clinical, Counselling, Forensic or Educational Psychology (or equivalent if qualified prior to the introduction of the relevant Doctorate).
* Experience working in related settings or with related client groups.
* Experience of effective multidisciplinary working (with clinical and non-clinical colleagues, internal and external agencies).
* Experience of communicating with families/relatives and carers; experience of working across different systems within an organisation (service development, group and individual work).
* Experience using a model of assess, plan, do, and review and using consultation as a service-delivery method.
* Competence in core areas of psychological practice and knowledge of the client group’s needs.
* Knowledge of trauma-informed practice and neurodiversity.
* Ability to develop formulations to inform intervention plans; ability to deliver training to different cohorts.
* Ability to write coherent clinical records and reports; strong IT skills or aptitude to learn core IT platforms.
* Ability to work with a range of professionals and support service development outcomes.
* Commitment to CPD and ability to demonstrate service evaluation and outcomes.
* Independent clinical decision-making when necessary; strong time management and organisational skills.
* Willingness to travel on company business; full driving licence and access to a car.
Desirable
* Experience with specific client groups (neurodiverse, EMH/Special Education needs) and in schools or residential care settings.
* Experience providing supervision to others.
* Knowledge of current philosophies underpinning services for the target client group; knowledge of relevant legislation and its implications for practice.
* Post-qualification training in topics related to role, service or client group; training in evidence-based interventions.
