We’re growing our UK business and have exciting opportunities for experienced and motivated industry professionals to join us as we continue our journey to help make clients successful. We have a specific opportunity for an experienced Technical Manager, who carries design development, owners engineer and EPC experience to join our team and work on a variety of power and energy transition projects across our UK and International regions. Projects will include a mix of all power generation and decarbonisation technologies that form part of the UK pathway to 2050 Net Zero and will be direct to demand (OnSite) or direct to grid-connected solutions. Typically these include key technologies such as BESS, PowerGen and Distributed Heat and Power.
This role will be responsible for execution in line with the Burns & McDonnell project execution systems and processes in the UK and building on the strong capability from the US. Vital skills and qualities will include excellent collaboration, broad experience across power and energy sectors, building trusted value chain relationships, supporting work-winning activity as well as overseeing project delivery from a clean sheet of paper to on-site construction.
* Lead on all aspects of safety and CDM compliance and understanding for projects in your portfolio.
* Manage and coordinate all technical aspects of project execution for Design and Delivery of projects across the UK
* Supporting the project management team in securing profitability of individual projects, the successful completion of projects within specified dates, and establishing and maintaining a professional and satisfactory relationship with the client, contractors and project stakeholders.
* Lead the preparation of proposals, presentations, and support contract negotiations.
* Supporting overall project management of projects from concept to completion including coordinating the work of the support teams in estimating, engineering and procurement. The role will lead on value engineering and assist constructability reviews
* Drive project schedules, manage scope, and control project costs.
* Lead project resourcing and contractor and supply chain management.
* Manage internal project financials, resourcing, legal coordination, risk management.
* Confirm deliverables and services are being provided to client’s satisfaction.
* Report regularly on progress, cost and schedule

* Develop bid stage technical solutions with partners and engineering team.

* Identify and develop future technical staff.
* Support coordination with appropriate business line leadership and department leadership to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats related to our technical business.
* Demonstrate creativity, foresight, and mature judgement in anticipating and solving problems.
Qualifications
* Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related degree/international qualification.
* Minimum of 7 years electrical engineering experience. Owners Engineer and EPC project experience preferred.
* Chartered status preferred
* Expert knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures.
* Strong knowledge of electrical equipment design Standards.
* Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Experience with leading large projects and delegating work tasks to team members.
* Ability to lead execution of work and resolve issues in a team environment.
* Ability to influence, lead, and manage change thoughtfully and positively.
* Ability to handle difficult situations with tact, poise, and discernment.
* Demonstrated critical thinking skills, ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
* Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications.
* Ability to travel.
