Stewart Travel, the retail arm of Brooklyn Travel Group, encompasses Travel Sales, Admin Support, Product, and Customer Service functions. As an independent Travel Agent, we sell holidays worldwide from 11 stores across Scotland and Northern Ireland, offering multi-channel booking options for customer convenience. Our goal is to deliver seamless service from initial inquiry to post-travel follow-up, emphasizing exceptional customer service.
Role Information
As an Assistant Manager at Stewart Travel, you will be an experienced sales professional in the travel industry. You will assume a management role, leading the team while maintaining high service standards and leveraging your extensive travel knowledge to meet customer needs. You will motivate the team to achieve targets and support store operations alongside the Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Maintain extensive knowledge of our products, especially Long Haul and Cruise holidays
* Provide exceptional travel advice face-to-face, via email, and over the phone
* Act as a role model for sales and customer service, mentoring colleagues
* Assist in planning strategies to attract and retain customers
* Identify training needs and facilitate staff development
* Monitor progress towards sales and business objectives
* Communicate regularly with the Store Manager about business trends and opportunities
* Resolve customer service issues efficiently before escalation
* Support colleagues with bookings, ensuring process adherence and comprehensive options
* Engage professionally with customers to understand and fulfill their travel needs
* Enhance sales through upselling and additional products
* Handle payments securely for deposits and travel expenses
* Innovate to generate new business opportunities
* Contribute to team goals and maximize individual sales profit
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
* Minimum of 5 years' experience in travel sales, preferably in an independent agency
* Extensive knowledge of travel products, including tour operators and airlines, Long Haul, and Cruise
* Supervisory or management experience in retail is preferred
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, challenging sales environment
* Strong multi-tasking and prioritization skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Flexibility to support other branches as needed
