Head of Projects - M&E, Healthcare
About the Role
We are seeking an exceptional Head of Projects to lead a sizeable capital works and refurbishment portfolio across a busy, operational healthcare estate. With a £15 million annual project pipeline, you will oversee the delivery of complex M&E-driven projects, infrastructure upgrades, backlog maintenance, and refurbishment programmes within a live clinical environment.
This is a role for a leader who is as comfortable in the plant room and on the wards as they are in the boardroom. You'll combine commercial sharpness and P&L experience with operational visibility, ensuring your team of three Project Managers is supported, aligned, and delivering excellence across multiple hospital sites.
Clear, proactive communication will be absolutely critical-engaging with estates teams, ward managers, and clinical leads to ensure works are coordinated safely, sensitively, and with minimal disruption to patient care.
Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for all M&E capital works and refurbishment programmes.
Manage and grow a £15m pipeline, ensuring strong commercial performance, compliance, and client satisfaction.

Maintain high visibility on site-ensuring safe delivery within live clinical environments and resolving complex technical or logistical challenges.
Act as a key communication bridge between project delivery teams and hospital stakeholders, ensuring regular, clear, and proactive updates.
Oversee programme management, risk control, CDM compliance, and contractor performance.
About You
Strong track record leading M&E or technical project delivery teams-ideally within healthcare or other live, safety-critical environments.
Exceptional communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to navigate clinical settings respectfully and effectively.

Hands-on leadership style-comfortable balancing strategic oversight with on-the-ground involvement.
Strong understanding of capital works processes, M&E systems, and project governance.
Confident managing complex programmes and multiple concurrent workstreams.
