How you can make your mark
Reporting to the Master, the Mate is responsible for the safe navigation of the designated vessel and the safe operational process during the watch. Deputise for the Master and delegate tasks to the crew.

Main Tasks:
* To be competent in taking command of the vessel in the event of the Master being unable to carry out the duties.
* Logging information and documentation.
* Contributing to the improvement of company's operational, nautical and technical processes and procedures.
* Understanding local regulations and legislations.
* Ensuring a safe working environment for all personnel on board during watch by understanding and ensuring compliance with relevant company’s (safety) guidelines and procedures (especially the NINA safety behaviour program).
* Responsible for the safe navigation and manoeuvring of the vessel under all circumstances during the watch.
* Supervising the execution of the operational process during the watch.
* Ensuring timely and effective communication with relevant stakeholders and crew members during the watch.
* To be second in command of the craft and responsible to the Master for the safe navigation of the craft during his tour of watch keeping duties.
* To assist the Master in his general responsibilities as detailed by the Master.
* Maintain register of Nautical Publications held on board and update as required (including chart corrections).
* Maintain register of LSA and FFA equipment update and carry out checks/maintenance as required.
* To undertake the navigation of the vessel when authorised to do so by the Master.
* Responsible to ensure the overall cleanliness and up keep of the vessel.
* Ensure all fabric maintenance carried out to vessel is to specification and that the correct preparation is carried out.
* Maintain levels of deck stores (including sea-stock paint, mooring lines and fenders etc) and maintain levels of accommodation stores (cleaning, products, galley stores).
* Ensure adequate food provision for expected operations.
Required knowledge & experience:
Essential
* ENG1
* 3 years UK residency
* Full driving licence
* Current passport
Desirable
* Workboat Master <200T or STCW OOW Deck.
* Expected to obtain Master <500T NC
* Training according STCW regulations
* Good command of English (written and spoken)
* Advanced knowledge of the applicable Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, legislation and regulations.
* Knowledge of operational process of vessels and the equipment.
