An Exciting Opportunity to manage in Direct Services
Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. Brent's diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here.
The council is pursuing a far-reaching transformation agenda that better meets the needs of our community so it is an exciting time to join us.
The Post
The post holder is required to work proactively across Direct Services with the management team to develop, progress and improve the services delivered by Direct Services.
The Registered Manager will lead and grow a high‑quality, 24/7 supported living service where adults with learning disabilities and autism are enabled to live fulfilled, independent lives. You'll be accountable for compliance with the Care Quality Commission's Single Assessment Framework, inspection readiness and continuous improvement across governance, risk, safeguarding, medication safety and incident learning. You'll ensure robust person‑centred planning, positive behaviour support, and active engagement with families and partners; build a skilled, compassionate workforce (team leaders and care & support workers), and drive a culture of great recording, reliable rota management and responsive on‑call arrangements.
This role centres on strong multi‑agency working, audit and quality assurance, and using data and practice insight to make every contact count. The Team Manager is expected to be able to develop a creative approach to care provision in a Supported Living environment. This will be through ensuring that staff receive appropriate training and development opportunities and enabling them to provide the highest level of care with a focus on outcome based and positive approaches to working.
The Person
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated Registered Manager (Team Manager, Community Opportunities) to join our team. The successful candidate will have substantial experience in leading a Care Quality Commission (CQC) regulated service that is rated Good or Outstanding.
You will have a proven track record in managing services that are safe, caring, effective, responsive, and well-led, specifically for individuals with Learning Disabilities and Autism. Your recent experience will demonstrate your ability to help people achieve meaningful outcomes, regain skills, build confidence, and reach their full potential to live as independently as possible. Expertise in the requirements of the Health and Social Care Act and the CQC adult social care registration assessment framework is essential.
You will be skilled at preparing services for both CQC and Commissioning inspections. You will demonstrate fluency in person-centred practice, including Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), safeguarding, and the Mental Capacity Act (MCA). You will have the capability to translate policy into effective practice for both people who use services and staff. Effective planning of safe staffing, rotas, and on-call arrangements for a 24-hour service will be second nature to you.
You will instinctively collaborate with partners, using evidence and audits to improve outcomes, and you will always maintain a state of inspection readiness. Above all, you will be committed to putting people first—championing their rights, choices, and aspirations—so that support is always designed around what matters most to each individual, ensuring everyone feels seen, heard, and empowered.
A customer-focused approach and a genuine passion for supporting and enabling people to achieve their goals and aspirations are essential. Strong leadership and practical operational management skills will be important in managing all day-to-day aspects of the service, delivering the best outcomes for those who use our services, while effectively leading a diverse staff team.
If you would like to be part of an innovative and exciting service and want to make a real difference by enabling people to achieve their goals for independent living, we would be delighted to hear from you.
