Shift pattern is Monday‑Sunday, early & lates, weekends and nights 24/7.
The unit consists of nine operating theatres, a 12‑bed recovery area and a theatre reception area staffed by the recovery escort team. It operates 24/7 providing peri‑operative care to patients undergoing elective surgery in general surgery, colorectal, gynaecology, ENT, urology, breast and orthopaedics. The department also includes an emergency CEPOD theatre and two orthopaedic trauma theatres servicing the unscheduled care pathway.
The theatre department utilises the da Vinci robot at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and benefits from a peri‑operative education SCN who works closely with staff to develop and support the department.
Applicants must be NMC/HCPC registered and enthusiastic, motivated and interested in working in a peri‑operative environment. Previous experience in a peri‑operative environment is a definite advantage but not essential as full training will be given. The department offers team support and continuing education opportunities including funded access to the safe scrub module, anaesthetic and recovery courses at GCU and an in‑house comprehensive training and mentorship programme.
Successful candidates are required to demonstrate flexibility by working within a dynamic and evolving service. They will be expected where necessary to engage in multi‑site working within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde to achieve the needs of the service. This is a great opportunity to join a friendly and dynamic team for those with experience and those looking for a change in direction.
