Are you a compassionate and adaptable SEND Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with additional needs?

Rotherwood Education are currently seeking dedicated Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Teaching Assistants to join a variety of welcoming and inclusive primary and secondary schools across Lancashire from September 2025!

This role is ideal for someone who is patient, empathetic, and ready to make a real difference in the lives of pupils with a range of needs, including Autism, ADHD, Speech & Language difficulties, and more.

About the role:

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will be working closely with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups to support their learning, behaviour, and emotional development. You will work under the guidance of teaching staff and SENCOs to help deliver tailored support strategies that break down barriers to learning and promote inclusion.

Key responsibilities:

* Provide targeted 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND.

* Assist with the educational, emotional, and social development of pupils.

* Work closely with teachers to implement personalised support plans.

* Promote a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

* Support pupils with daily routines, transitions, and emotional regulation.

* Help deliver interventions in areas such as literacy, numeracy, or communication.

* Build strong relationships with pupils, acting as a positive and consistent role model.

* Monitor progress and feedback to teachers and SENCOs.

The ideal SEND Teaching Assistant will:

* Have previous experience working with children with SEND (desirable but not essential).

* Demonstrate a strong understanding of Autism, ADHD, SEMH, or communication needs.

* Be patient, empathetic, and calm under pressure.

* Show adaptability and a proactive attitude in the classroom.

* Be a team player who can also work independently.

* Have a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.

* Be open to training and professional development opportunities.

Requirements:

* Experience with SEND.

* Proven track record or relevant school-based experience.

* A current, enhanced DBS on the update service, or be willing to apply for one.

* Relevant references to support your application.

* Willingness to attend a face-to-face registration and complete necessary vetting checks.

Why Rotherwood Education:

* Dedicated consultants with in-depth knowledge of local schools.

* Competitive rates of pay.

* A friendly and supportive service throughout your placement.

If you're passionate about supporting young people and want to develop your career in SEND education, we’d love to hear from you!
