Main Duties And Responsibilities
* Support GPs, nurses, and other clinicians in delivering high‑quality, patient‑centred care.
* Work as part of the nursing team to provide a holistic approach to patient care.
* Act as a chaperone for patients in accordance with practice policy and national guidance.
* Carry out routine clinical procedures including phlebotomy, blood pressure monitoring, ECG recording, wound care, and simple dressings, following appropriate training and competencies.
* Assist with NHS health checks, immunisations, and reviews for patients with long‑term conditions.
* Provide patients with basic health promotion and lifestyle advice in line with agreed protocols.
* Accurately record clinical observations and interventions in patients electronic medical records.
* Monitor, record, and maintain cold chain storage in line with vaccine management guidelines.
* Order, receive, check, and rotate clinical and surgical stock, ensuring appropriate stock levels are maintained.
* Ensure consultation and treatment rooms are stocked, clean, and prepared for clinical use.
* Maintain clinical equipment in line with infection prevention and control policies.
* Adhere to all practice policies, specifically confidentiality, safeguarding, health and safety, and infection control.
* Support the wider practice team with additional duties as required to ensure safe and effective patient care.

We are a well‑established and welcoming GP practice seeking a Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to join our team. Working across our two sites in Oulton and Rothwell, we are committed to delivering high‑quality, patient‑centred care. We take pride in working as one team, with each member playing an important role in providing a consistently high standard of service to our patients. Our clinical team includes 7 GP Partners, 2 Salaried GPs, 4 GP Registrars, 7 Nurses (including 1 Advanced Clinical Practitioner), and 4 Healthcare Assistants.

Essential
* GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics at Grade C/4 or above
* A caring, compassionate approach with a genuine commitment to providing high‑quality, patient‑centred care.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively and respectfully with patients, carers, and colleagues.
* Ability to work well as part of a multidisciplinary team as well as independently when required.
* Willingness to undertake training and develop new clinical skills relevant to the role.
* Good organisational skills and the ability to manage time effectively in a busy environment.
* Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
* A flexible and adaptable approach to work, with the ability to respond positively to changing priorities.
* Basic IT skills, with the ability to accurately record information in electronic patient records.

* Understanding of, or willingness to learn about, infection prevention and control, health and safety, and safeguarding principles.
Desirable
* Previous experience working as a Healthcare Assistant, Clinical Support Worker, or in a similar patient‑facing role.
* Experience working within a GP practice, primary care, or other healthcare setting.
* Ability to undertake routine clinical procedures such as phlebotomy, blood pressure monitoring, ECGs, or wound care (or evidence of relevant training).
* NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care, or willingness to work towards a relevant qualification.
* Experience of working with electronic patient record systems (e.g. SystmOne).
* Knowledge of long‑term condition management and health promotion activities.
* Understanding of infection prevention and control, cold chain management, and clinical stock management.
* Experience working within NHS policies, procedures, and governance frameworks.
