Job description
The Centre for Dementia Research wish to appoint an experienced dementia researcher to work on an exciting NIHR-funded study, aiming to explore and improve learning environments in care home settings. Working alongside Professor Claire Surr, and a national team of experts in the field, the applicant will be responsible all aspects of the research process in care homes sites in the West Yorkshire area. This will involve working collaboratively with the research team (based at Leeds Beckett University, additional recruiting sites at the Universities of Kent and Bournemouth and other collaborating organisations) and with staff in participating care homes to deliver the project. The post holder will undertake recruitment and consent of care homes, participants, undertake observational, interview and documentary and quantitative data collection and analysis, support intervention development, implementation and evaluation, and contribute to study reporting and dissemination.
The applicant will have experience of conducting research with older people and or with care home staff, and of using a range of research methods, with a primary focus on qualitative research and ideally including ethnographic methods. They will have a PhD or will be close to submission of their thesis.
The post holder will be based within the Centre for Dementia Research, Leeds Beckett City Campus and will be expected to travel independently to and spend considerable time in care home sites in the West Yorkshire region. Therefore a driving license would be advantageous.
