Food and Nutrition Co‑ordinator
As part of a team you will assist, support and encourage young people who are looked after and accommodated to achieve their highest aspirations.
Responsibilities
* Build relationships with young people and assist them in cooking, budgeting and meal preparation.
* Promote and deliver a consistent, high‑quality service within the care home environment, engaging positively with young people.
* Encourage young people to prepare food and liaise with care staff to ensure their needs are met holistically.
* Prepare healthy, varied and nutritionally balanced meals for the children’s house.
* Purchase foodstuffs and join young people and staff in purchasing when agreed and appropriate.
Qualifications
* Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate with experience in catering within a residential environment.
* Knowledge of menu planning, budget control, nutrition and health, HACCP, Health and Safety legislation and COSHH.
* Effective organisational, communication and teamwork skills, ability to meet deadlines, and competence in ensuring the smooth running of the house.
* Desirable: SVQ Level 2 in Food Production and Cooking or City & Guilds 7061/2 or equivalent.
Shifts and Registration
* Work on a rotating shift basis, any five days out of seven.
* Must be registered with SSSC or achieve registration within six months of appointment.
