Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to co‑lead our specialist inpatient team providing a service to medicine. The role is based at Southmead Hospital and will encompass either complex care or acute specialties. This advert may close early if we have received a sufficient amount of applications. Responsibilities
* Share the role of team lead with other established Band 7 colleagues within the acute inpatient medicine pathway; manage varied caseloads across frailty, respiratory, gastroenterology, infectious diseases and cardiology specialties.
* Support the medicine pathway lead to deliver an occupational therapy service, including day‑to‑day operational management of the team and responsibility for a specialist clinical caseload within inpatient medicine.
* Collaborate closely with team members and community partners across the health and care system to address needs at all stages of the clinical pathway.
* Develop and lead a highly specialist occupational therapy service, acting as a clinical advisor for occupational therapists within North Bristol NHS Trust.
* Work autonomously and be accountable for own professional actions while managing a caseload of adult patients with complex needs; use advanced clinical reasoning, critical thinking, evidence‑based principles and best practice to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
* Provide leadership and line management for the specialist occupational therapy service, ensuring service provision is prioritised across the specialty team and delivery is effective within available resources.
* Supervise and develop staff, addressing staffing issues as they arise.
* Offer specialist input, professional leadership and direction in the planning, coordination and evaluation of the occupational therapy service; assist the occupational therapy manager in strategic development.
* Provide training and education to other health care professionals.
* Lead initiatives related to service development such as audit, research and training across the Trust‑wide Occupational Therapy service.
* Serve as a specialist resource and contribute to undergraduate education, regularly supervising students on practice placement.
