Head of Direct Sales – Fintech SME Lending

Location: Central London


An ambitious, well‑funded fintech lender has just launched in the UK, building on huge global success and they’re gearing up to make serious waves in the SME lending space. Based in Central London, they’re redefining fast, flexible SME business loans by combining cutting‑edge technology, deep capital backing, and a highly experienced team that moves at pace. The people they’ve brought in so far are exceptional - industry heavyweights with outstanding reputations and a track record of scaling high‑growth lenders.


Now, as they accelerate their UK expansion, they’re hiring a Head of Direct Sales to build and own a brand new direct to client sales channel. This is a rare opportunity to build a high performing sales function from the ground up and play a pivotal role in one of the most exciting fintech launches in the market. You will shape the channel strategy, hire and develop the team, define processes, and deliver ambitious growth targets in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment.


Key Responsibilities

* Build and lead the direct sales function, including strategy, structure, hiring, and performance management.
* Develop and execute a high impact direct to client acquisition strategy to drive new business growth.
* Create scalable processes, playbooks, and KPIs to ensure consistent, high quality execution.
* Champion a high‑performance culture, coaching and developing the team to exceed targets and leading from the front.
* Own and exceed revenue targets and pipeline growth.
* Work closely with credit, operations, and tech teams to optimise customer journeys and maximise conversion and ensure delivery.
* Analyse performance data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.


What We’re Looking For

* Proven experience leading a direct sales team within SME lending, commercial finance, fintech, or a related high‑growth environment.
* Strong track record of building or scaling a sales function from scratch or early stage.
* Exceptional leadership and coaching skills, with the ability to inspire and drive performance.
* Highly commercial mindset with strong data‑driven decision‑making capability.
* Comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, start-up and entrepreneurial environment with evolving processes.
* Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
* Ambitious, proactive, and motivated by growth, ownership, and impact.
