We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and dedicated skilled individual to join our team as a Gardener.
We are a 550-acre site in the Cotswolds Waterpark with private residences, communal areas, Polly tunnel, small orchard, allotment, 10 lakes, and rolling nature reserve. We are heavily focused on ecology and strive to deliver a well-kept environment that embraces native wildlife for our residents and guests to enjoy. The successful candidate will work with our in-house gardening team to ensure properties are well presented and tended to regularly.
Applicants must have a relevant horticultural qualification and proven experience as a gardener.
Location: Lower Mill Estate - Cirencester
Reporting to: Head Groundsman
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 07:30 am – 4:30 pm
Responsibilities
1. Assist the Gardening Team with tasks such as weeding, digging, propagation, cultivation, topiary, forking, mulching, watering, raking, edging, pruning, bed preparation, pest and disease identification, mowing, irrigation installation, plant health monitoring, composting, record keeping, litter picking, maintenance of planters and hanging baskets, planting, hedge-cutting.
2. Operate hand tools and basic machinery including mowers, strimmers, hedge-cutters, chainsaws, and leaf blowers.
3. Use estate vehicles such as RTVs and ATVs, inspecting them regularly to ensure they are operational and maintained.
4. Follow Health and Safety procedures and ensure all duties comply with current legislation.
5. Ensure equipment, machinery, and buildings are safely secured.
6. Maintain cleanliness and order in the canteen, drying room, and tool shed.
7. Keep tools and equipment in good condition, reporting any defects.
8. Report security risks within the estate.
9. Apply herbicides as directed by the Gardening team leader.
10. Maintain cleanliness of courtyards, planted areas, footpaths, estate tracks, and other areas.
11. Work in line with the Ecology plan laid out by Habitat First Group and Ecologist.
12. Perform duties professionally, maintaining high standards.
13. Communicate respectfully and professionally with colleagues, contractors, homeowners, and guests.
14. Report any defects or safety concerns promptly to the Head Groundsman or Gardening Team Leader/Manager.

Minimum Requirements
* Recognised Horticultural qualification
* Minimum 2 years experience
* Keen eye for detail in maintaining gardens and landscapes
* Good knowledge of UK native plant species
* Physically fit
* Highly motivated and dedicated
* Excellent communication skills
* Chainsaw or pole pruner certification
* Knowledge of safe work practices and health & safety regulations
* PA1, PA6/PA6AW certifications
* Ride-on mower certificate
