Job Advert: Enforcement Officer

Location: Havering
Driving Required: Yes

Are you passionate about community safety and making a difference? Our client is seeking dedicated and proactive individuals to join their team as Enforcement Officers. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with civil and criminal legislation, while actively contributing to the safety and well-being of the borough.

Main Responsibilities:

Collaborate with various agencies, including police, to prevent crime and disorder in line with the Crime and Disorder Act 1998.
Conduct civil and criminal investigations, enforcing legislation such as Injunctions and By-laws.
Undertake proactive patrol duties to address issues including anti-social behaviour, public nuisance, and environmental concerns.
Respond to member inquiries and service requests efficiently, ensuring high standards of service delivery.
Work closely with statutory partners and external agencies to resolve crime-related issues effectively.
Maintain high visibility in patrols to foster community trust and engagement.

Job Context:

You will report to a Senior Enforcement Officer and may work across various wards and boundaries.
Your duties will encompass a range of enforcement activities, including addressing rough sleeping and public nuisance.
The role requires flexibility, with responsibilities extending outside normal office hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

Qualifications:

Current and valid Community Safety Accreditation Certificate (or equivalent).
Disclosure and Barring Scheme clearance.
Full manual driving licence (provisional licences not accepted).
Commitment to complete ongoing training and skills development.

Key Skills and Abilities:

Strong understanding of relevant legislation, including the ASB Crime and Policing Act 2014 and the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with the public and collaborate with various agencies.
Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative in resolving conflicts.
A good level of literacy and numeracy, with experience in using IT systems for record-keeping.

A professional ambassador for the council, with a commitment to customer care and equality.
Positive demeanour and a can-do attitude, willing to adapt to changing demands.
Strong attendance record and satisfactory health standards.
