Job Title: Tax Assistant
Location: St Albans
Working Pattern: Part-time /Flexible hours possible
Probation: 6-month probation period, with an apprenticeship opportunity upon successful completion
Overview
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Tax Assistant to support our Group Tax Manager in the preparation and organisation of financial and tax-related data. This role offers an excellent development opportunity for someone looking to start a career in tax, with hands-on experience across multiple tax areas and the potential to undertake a professional apprenticeship as a Taxation Technician.
Key Responsibilities
Corporate Tax
1. Manage and collate capital allowances data
2. Build relationships with quantity surveyors and suppliers
3. Use systems such as NetSuite (accounting) and Verisae (capital maintenance)
4. Assist with data analysis for quarterly tax-sensitive accounts
5. General administrative support (e.g., document scanning, filing, spreadsheet maintenance)
6. Prepare Structural Building Allowances statements for Corporate Tax returns
7. Gather data and assist in preparation of Corporation Tax rollover relief elections
8. Liaise with HR for company-leased car data for tax returns
Employment Taxes
9. Work with the wider business to prepare the annual PAYE Settlement Agreement
VAT (Support Role)
10. Produce monthly VAT reconciliations
11. Assist with corrections in conjunction with the wider finance team
12. Prepare quarterly VAT group returns and post VAT journals
13. Support ad-hoc VAT-related projects
Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT)
14. Review and log relevant correspondence
15. Liaise with internal stakeholders and external advisors
