Teaching Assistant – 1:1 Support for KS1 Child with SEMH Needs in Christchurch
Are you a compassionate and patient Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference? We are seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Key Stage 1 pupil with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
This role offers a unique opportunity to work closely with a child who requires tailored support to thrive both academically and emotionally. You will be a key part of a caring team, helping to create a safe, nurturing environment where the child feels understood, supported, and empowered to learn.
What we’re looking for:
Experience or a genuine interest in supporting children with SEMH needs
A calm, empathetic approach with excellent communication skills
The ability to build trusting relationships with pupils, parents, and staff
Flexibility and patience to adapt to the child’s evolving needs
Commitment to working collaboratively within the school community
What you’ll be doing:
Providing one-to-one support tailored to the child’s emotional and educational requirements
Assisting with classroom activities and behaviour strategies
Supporting social skills development and helping the child engage positively with peers
Working closely with teachers and SEND coordinators to monitor progress and adapt support

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
