At Ridge, we are very much a people business, rather than a big global organisation. You definitely won’t be a small cog in a big machine here. We’re proud Ridge people who genuinely strive to make a difference, both for our clients and for each other.
We are currently seeking a Geo-Environmental Engineer to work on new and existing projects across southern England. The role will primarily involve Phase 1 and Phase 2 Site Investigations and will sit within our Geo-Environmental Consultancy Department.
This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build on their early career experience and take on more responsibility within a supportive, experienced team.
What you’ll be doing:
* Planning, delivering and reporting of Phase 1 and Phase 2 Geo-Environmental and Geotechnical site investigations.
* Liaison with Clients, sub-contractors, other Ridge Teams, Regulators and stakeholders
* Logging soil and rock samples to a competent and consistent standard
* Scheduling and managing laboratory testing
* Conducting soil and groundwater risk assessments
* Working collaboratively with colleagues, clients and contractors on site and in the office
You’ll work on a wide range of projects, largely involving the redevelopment of brownfield sites, and will have the opportunity to play an active role in project delivery while continuing to develop your technical and professional skills. Projects include motorsport, defence, residential, retail, manufacturing, leisure and commercial developments
The skills and experience we’re looking for:
* A relevant degree in Geology, Environmental Science or a related discipline (postgraduate qualification desirable)
* Experience in a geo-environmental or related consultancy role
* Willingness to take ownership of projects and have pride in their work
* Strong communication and report-writing skills, good attention to detail
* A good working knowledge of current contamination topics, guidance and legislation
* Experience of, or exposure to, asbestos regulations, testing and risk assessment (desirable)
* Sound geotechnical knowledge, including soil and rock logging
* A full UK driving licence and regular use of a car
About the team:
The Geo-Environmental Department at Ridge offers a diligent, friendly and collaborative working environment. We encourage our people to be curious, to keep learning, and to bring fresh ideas to their work, while providing the support needed to help you grow and progress your career.
The role enables regular contact with other Ridge disciplines including Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Planning, Sustainability and Architects which provides excellent exposure to interdisciplinary working and allows a well-rounded understanding of the construction and development process.
Assistance with progression to chartered status will be provided.
