Job Title: Chef de Partie Location: Newbury Reports to: Head Chef The Opportunity We’re seeking a passionate Chef de Partie to join a vibrant, busy kitchen with ambitious goals to become the number one restaurant in Newbury and beyond. If you want to work with fresh, local, seasonal ingredients in a role where you can take ownership of your section, contribute to creative menu development, and be part of a forward-thinking culinary team, this could be the perfect next step for you. You’ll work in a contemporary, cosy environment with around 40 covers per service (lunch and dinner, Wednesday to Sunday), serving thoughtfully prepared meals and supporting a kitchen aiming for AA Rosettes and Michelin recognition. Role Details Hours: Wednesday to Saturday (full service), Sunday 11am – 5pm, totaling 45 hours per week Salary: £30,000 per annum plus £250-£400 per month tronc Benefits: Tronc tips paid monthly Career progression and training opportunities Staff meals each shift Supportive team environment with a people-first culture Opportunities to develop your culinary creativity Exposure to high-quality, seasonal, and local ingredients Chance to be involved in menu development and event planning Key Responsibilities Prepare, cook, and present high-quality dishes within your section Assist the Sous Chef with menu creation, recipe development, and dish innovation Handle preparation of meat, fish, and other key ingredients to high standards Support health and safety and food hygiene compliance across the kitchen Monitor portion control and minimize waste for cost-effective operations Maintain cleanliness and safety of your section and the wider kitchen Operate your section independently, efficiently, and with high attention to detail Collaborate closely with kitchen colleagues to ensure smooth service delivery What We’re Looking For Previous kitchen experience with training as a commis chef or equivalent, ideally with basic Chef de Partie skills Proven ability to consistently deliver well-presented, quality dishes Good knowledge of food safety standards and health & safety regulations Strong organizational skills, able to work independently and manage your section Excellent communication and numeracy skills Positive, adaptable, and enthusiastic team player keen to learn and develop Willingness to embrace new ideas and contribute creatively Desirable Qualifications & Experience Level 2 Health and Safety in the Workplace Award Level 3 Food Safety Certificate City & Guilds Catering or NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) Food Safety Level 1 and 2 Minimum 1 year relevant kitchen experience Understanding of manual handling, COSHH regulations, and safe kitchen equipment use If you’re ready to take your career to the next level and thrive in a creative, challenging kitchen environment, please get in touch to discuss this opportunity further.
