I am proud to be working in partnership with a public sector organisation recruiting for a Communications Officer to join their dynamic team. This role involves transforming how the Communications team engages with residents, customers, and stakeholders across digital and traditional channels.
What You'll Do: You will lead high-impact internal and external campaigns, craft press releases and social media content, advise senior leaders, and manage media relations to keep communities connected to essential services.
* Design and deliver strategic communications campaigns
* Manage media relations and act as a spokesperson
* Create engaging content for web, social, print, and video
* Support internal communications and change programmes
* Collaborate with partners on joint campaigns
* Provide crisis communications support when needed
They are looking for communicators who are:
* Skilled in campaign planning and content creation
* Confident working with media, stakeholders, and senior leaders
* Digitally savvy with a flair for storytelling
* Organised, adaptable, and collaborative
Essential experience:
* Proven track record in communications, PR, journalism, or digital media
* Strong writing and editing skills across multiple platforms
* Understanding of communications evaluation and digital tools
Desirable:
* Local government or public sector experience
* Familiarity with AI tools and emerging digital platforms
Qualifications:
* Degree in communications, journalism, marketing, PR, or equivalent experience
