We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Engineer to join the Asset Delivery team at Yorkshire Water and help us provide the best service to our customers. The Programme Delivery department is accountable for delivering the Capital Construction Programme through intelligent Totex solutions, collaboration, and world-class contract management processes. Specialist Projects is a stream within Programme Delivery that manages end-to-end design and delivery of engineering construction schemes across Clean Water, Waste Water and Networks. The department aims to achieve best value for money from the Capital Programme by optimising resources and monitoring the supply chain.
New environmental legislation, investment, and changing customer expectations create opportunities within the water industry. We embrace a flexible working model; hybrid work typically requires 1 to 2 days in the office per week, with more as needed for collaborative work, training or deadlines. Our office is open Monday–Friday during working hours, and on-site work is possible where required.
Responsibilities
* Undertake roles of Client, Principal Designer and Principal Contractor to manage end-to-end design processes and utilise a wide-ranging supply chain to deliver engineering construction schemes across Clean Water, Waste Water and Networks.
* Provide technical supervision and line management of a team of Project Technicians.
* Technically manage and coordinate the design and safe delivery of engineered MEICA projects within the Specialist Projects portfolio.
* Ensure that the delivery of all projects complies with CDM regulations, undertaking the role of Principal Contractor and supporting the Client and Principal Designer.
* Ensure adherence to Yorkshire Water Engineering specifications and associated documentation.
* Drive excellent standards and performance in health and safety, risk management and control of work to comply with the Yorkshire Water safety policy.
* Ensure robust financial management and commercial awareness underpin all business decisions.
Qualifications
* ICA based apprenticeship or Engineering degree or equivalent; ONC/HNC/BTEC in ICA Engineering.
* Understands the principles of control of works – Permits, POWRA, RAMS, etc.
* Understands major processes and effects/roles of MEICA equipment.
* Broad experience with electrical and ICA equipment; able to produce engineered solutions to resolve business risks.
* Thorough understanding and working knowledge of CDM regulations and their practical application.
* Good understanding of the design and project delivery process including hazard identification, risk assessment and site supervision.
* Ability to respond to a wide range of technical and non-technical queries.
* Understands and has experience of working to ATEX standards.
* Applies formal SI & ICA project development and delivery procedures (URS, SRS, P&IDs, FDS, FAT, SAT & OMs).
* Detailed knowledge of SI & ICA best practice and standards; experience of optimising SI control systems in a complex ICA landscape.
* Experience working in a regulated utility or major asset management/delivery with a wide asset base; knowledge of SI, Automation and Instrumentation technologies in a water utility environment; understanding of BS7671, BSEN 61511, BSEN 13849, BSEN 62061 and related standards.
* Knowledge of Schneider PLC platform, Mitsubishi (IEC 61131), Allen Bradley HMI/PLC systems and iFix SCADA.
* Understanding of process safety activities and documentation (Engineering Risk Assessments, Safety Reviews).
