As an Area Service Manager, no two days are ever the same. You’ll be at the heart of our communities, owning your patch and making a visible difference to people’s lives. From managing tenancies and lettings to shaping safer, stronger neighbourhoods, you’ll work proactively to resolve issues, drive improvements and deliver a great customer experience. This is a hands-on, people-focused role where you’ll collaborate with colleagues and partners, influence change on the ground and see the real impact of your work. It’s challenging, fast-paced and incredibly rewarding.

As an Area Service Manager, a typical day might include:

1. Proactively managing tenancies and taking the necessary enforcement action.
2. Dealing with all aspects of the allocation and letting process.
3. Coordinating mutual exchanges, successions, or other tenancy changes.
4. Carrying out regular neighbourhood audits and developing neighbourhood plans to improve the communities we work.
5. Working closely with other departments including Income Management, Safer Communities and Asset Management.
6. Ensuring that safeguarding and support concerns are identified, reported and actioned.
7. Assisting in ensuring we are compliant with our heating and electrical servicing activity, and following relevant processes and protocols.
8. Health and safety inspections and checks of our schemes and blocks.
9. Engaging with customers to improve the area they live, and the services we offer.
10. Liaising with partners, agencies and stakeholders.
11. Accurately updating the housing management system, along with the systems and portals of our partners.
12. Playing an active role in corporate projects or groups.

Some of the experience/skills we need to consider you:

13. Proven housing experience, with a well-developed knowledge of housing management practice and legislation.
14. Computer literate with a good working knowledge of software such as word and excel – you will need to use these to do the job.
15. A strong customer focussed approach both externally and internally.
16. Be committed to working as part of our team.
17. Be motivated, adaptable, determined, and able to work on your own initiative to resolve problems and achieve positive solutions.
18. Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
19. Resilience. Working in social housing is a challenging but rewarding career, you’ll be helping to bring real change to our customer’s lives.
20. You will hold or be working towards a Chartered Institute of Housing Professional Qualification or equivalent.
