Administrative Assistant - Children and families
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing around 40,000 staff across many roles. It delivers acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million, expanding to 2.2 million worldwide.
The shift pattern for this post is Monday–Thursday 08:30–16:30, Friday 08:30–16:00.
Role Overview
The primary role of this post is to provide clerical support to the Health Visiting service, working within defined protocols and procedures while adhering to Board policies such as Health & Safety, Data Protection and Confidentiality. The post holder works independently after initial induction and on‑the‑job training, with supervision and assistance from an administrator as required. Appraisals will be conducted in line with NHSGGC policy.
Responsibilities
* Provide clerical support to the Health Visiting service and maintain accurate records.
* Adhere to established protocols, policies and procedures.
* Apply good written and verbal communication skills to interact with team members and stakeholders.
* Prioritise workload and exercise initiative to meet deadlines.
* Operate office equipment and systems effectively.
* Support the development and review of protocols within the service.
Requirements
* Essential: Standard Grade English, good keyboard skills, strong written and verbal communication, teamwork, ability to follow protocols, prioritise workload, exercise initiative and flexibility.
* Desirable: Typing qualification, data input experience, proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Word), previous NHS experience.
Post holders must demonstrate competence in basic computer package use (e.g., ECDL) and knowledge of office environments and equipment. They should possess good command of verbal and written English and have prior organisational experience or be able to acquire it through induction.
Training
New employees will undergo a minimum of 4‑week induction/training programme, depending on department and location.
