In order to support our continued growth in the UK we are looking to recruit a Business Engineer in our Camberley Office. The purpose of the role is to support, develop and grow the business in the region with all estimating and business development aspects of a bid, ensuring that value engineered, high quality, and competitive proposals are delivered to the customer in a manner consistent with the business strategy and procedures.
Responsibilities
* Develop relationships with key customers to grow the ground improvement markets in the region (e.g., Vibro Stone Columns, Vibro Compaction, Dynamic Compaction, Dynamic Replacement, CMC rigid inclusions, Prefabricated Vertical Drains, etc.).
* Contact and visit key customers, build relationships, obtain feedback, and provide presentations.
* Organise and attend corporate events.
* Support award entries and the bid process to ensure tender deliverables are produced in a timely and effective manner.
* Assist with design options and value solutions; identify project attractiveness based on sound estimating principles where appropriate.
* Review tender documents (drawings, specifications, site investigation, and client requirements) to ensure all relevant information is evaluated in the bid process.
* Ensure innovative solutions are produced (liaise with the design team if necessary) and that all identified risks are mitigated.
* Prepare tender price schedules and documents (including clear technical and financial proposals) in accordance with pricing strategy and risk assessments; ensure cost plans reflect project requirements and risk profile.
* Maintain effective communication with customers during and after the bid process to maximise opportunities and build long-term relationships.
* Provide considered responses to customer questions including post-tender queries.
* Ensure handover of bid documentation to project operations and commercial teams is effective.
* In relation to site production/results/payments/potential claims, assist or help resolve issues as needed with input from commercial and operations teams.
* Ensure compliance with business strategy and authority levels.
* Where required, manage live projects and gain a full understanding of operational processes.
* Support delivery teams, providing expert technical support and visits to site and meetings with customers.
* Maintain personal expertise and knowledge to keep ground engineering at the forefront of the industry, including the latest technologies and standards.
* Contribute to development of marketing materials such as brochures, websites and data sheets.
* Maintain a relentless focus on safety—WORKSAFE HOMESAFE.
Qualifications & Requirements
* A degree in civil engineering or a geological subject.
* A valid CSCS card.
* Membership of a relevant professional body (ICE or GeolSoc) would be advantageous.
* Technical/engineering knowledge of ground engineering processes.
* Strong focus, thoroughness, and the credibility to advise senior management when immediate redress is needed; tenacity to ensure action is taken.
* Good interpersonal and communication skills; ability to form effective relationships with partners under time pressure; customer-centric approach with the ability to identify opportunities in invitations to tender.
* Capable people-manager with ability to develop and coach teams and address HR issues promptly and robustly.
* Customer-centric and flexible in approach; strategic and creative insight to identify opportunities in tenders; hands-on experience leading technical aspects of bids.
* Willingness to pursue innovation and development with a focus on the customer and ground engineering business.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); knowledge of AutoCAD is advantageous.
* Full UK Driving Licence.
