Location: Llandudno
Salary: £26,380 per year, rising to £28,840 on successful completion of probation
About the Role: As a member of the Youth Engagement Team under direction from the Operations Manager you will be required to engage with Working Wales, referral partners, young people, guardians and employers to recruit learners, source appropriate work placements, review, mentor and give employability support to 16-19 year olds who are assessed as NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) to help them reach their potential.
Key Responsibilities
* Working under the supervision of the Operations Manager, meet recruitment targets to maintain caseload levels by liaising with Careers Wales, Working Wales Job Centres, and other referral support agencies to promote COPA’s services.
* Complete learner initial assessments and enrol onto the programme.
* Support by the Operations Manager to build rapport with local employers to source high quality work placements with flexibility in attendance to meet the needs of the learner; ensure work placements have the potential for sustained employment.
* Carry out Health & Safety vetting and monitoring of work placements and be aware of issues surrounding Health and Safety/Safeguarding; prevent risk in the work placement environment.
* Liaise as appropriate with parents/carers.
* Identify learners who are at high risk of disengaging and implement strategies to prevent this from happening.
* Carry out meaningful interviews and reviews with learners to measure progress and identify actions and training needs.
* Develop a bank of support agencies able to deliver interventions to assist learners with additional learning needs.
* Work closely with the Youth Engagement Team Tutors to ensure a joint approach to training, development and employability of learners, maximise starts, progressions and qualification achievement, and identify and meet progression opportunities for learners.
* Ensure learners are adequately prepared and given the opportunity to progress onto higher level programmes and employment in a timely manner by liaising effectively with all other teams.
* Monitor attendance of learners in work placements and assist in the collection of timesheets using in-house systems to monitor and maintain attendance levels.
* Provide coaching and mentoring support to learners.
* Ensure positive progressions for learners leaving COPA.
* Carry out related administrative duties required to enable the smooth running of the Youth Engagement Programmes, liaising with all routes and Audit & Compliance department.
* Be fully aware of the company Health & Safety policy and procedures to ensure the learner environment is safe during indoor and outdoor sessions.
* Be fully aware of the company safeguarding policy and procedures to ensure the wellbeing of the learners.
* Communicate with parents/guardians regarding issues that require attention.
* Adhere to and promote COPA’s environmental practices.
* Any other duties as requested by the Operations Manager as necessary from time to time.
Other Duties
* Undertake any other duties as deemed appropriate by the Managing Director and commensurate with the level of the post.

* Undertake appropriate training and development as required.
* Participate in Performance Review and Development Scheme.

Qualifications and Skills
Essential
* Minimum of 2 years’ experience of working with NEET learners
* Competence with safeguarding
* Good literacy and numeracy (Grade C or equivalent)
* Teaching qualification
* Creative and passionate about training/learning
* Ability to develop others
* Proven track record of meeting targets
* Ability to identify potential barriers to learning and plan strategies to overcome them
* Good communication and interpersonal skills, including excellent written and spoken English
* Self-motivated and well organised
* Excellent IT skills with programmes such as Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and SharePoint
* Willingness and ability to be flexible and go above and beyond as needed
* Team player with ability to work on own initiative and meet set timescales
* Effective customer care skills
* Willingness to undertake personal and professional development related to your role and business needs

* Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle
