Registered Childrens Home Manager
We’re looking for an experienced Children’s Home Manager (Registered Manager) who’s passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and young people in care. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in setting up a new home from scratch, shaping a service and building a strong foundation that will, support the delivery of high-quality, therapeutic care that can change lives.
The owner of this new venture has vast experience in child protection and absolutely has the needs of children and young people at heart. This is a passion project, with the aim to create the homes that young people deserve – with outstanding reflective and therapeutic care that enables young people with learning disabilities / autism to thrive.
On offer for the Registered Manager is a salary of £50,000 - £60,000 plus benefits, and the chance to propel your career extensively over the next few years.
As a Registered Manager you’ll be responsible for;
Work is well under way to renovate the property – so much care and consideration has been taken in terms of the location, size and quality of the home. An absolutely beautiful, converted farmhouse, with plenty of space, enabling them to create a play therapy room, sensory room, activity area, gardens and separate office space/training space. They are near completion of works and so are ready to recruit a Registered Manager and register with Ofsted.
Initially your role will focus on working with the provider to set up systems, policies and processes, recruiting for staff and ensuring training is put into place. Once registered you’ll work with LA’s to assess potential placements, ensuring that the needs of each individual child can be met within the home and that they are good fit for the children already living within the home.
* Provide high-quality leadership and management of the home in line with Ofsted regulations and company policies.
* Ensure that the home consistently meets or exceeds the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and the Quality Standards.
* Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring robust safeguarding practice and a strong culture of safety and accountability.
* Lead, inspire, and develop a team of residential childcare workers, including supervision, training, and performance management.
* Ensure that care plans, risk assessments, and placement plans are child-centered and reviewed regularly in partnership with professionals and families.
* Oversee the therapeutic approach of the home, ensuring each child’s sensory, emotional, and developmental needs are understood and supported.
* Work in partnership with social workers, education providers, health professionals, and local authorities to achieve the best outcomes for children.
* Manage budgets, staffing rotas, and resources effectively to maintain a safe and stable environment.
What we’re looking for;
* It is ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL that you have experience of being a Children’s Home Manager / Registered Manager of Children’s Residential Care previously.
* You’ll need to have worked in a management role in a children’s home for at least 2 years within the last 5.
* You’ll be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of Ofsted regulations, current legislation and safeguarding processes
* Experience of working with children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties.
* QCF level 5 or equivalent in Leadership and Management for Social care (Children and Young People) or be willingness to complete this within 1st year of employment
