Edgar Wood Academy, part of the Altus Education Partnership, is seeking a dedicated and proactive Premises Operative to help maintain our modern, state-of-the-art school building and ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Opened in 2021, Edgar Wood Academy serves the communities of Middleton and Heywood, providing high-quality education rooted in our core values of Resilience, Empathy, Responsibility, and Respect. As part of our growing and supportive team, you'll play a key role in helping us deliver a world-class education to our students.
About the Role
As a Premises Operative, you will:
* Assist with the day-to-day cleaning, maintenance, and security of the school site
* Carry out routine repairs and general upkeep of buildings and grounds
* Support site operations, including opening and closing the premises
* Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements and statutory checks
* Oversee contractors and assist with site set-up for events and lettings
This is a hands-on and varied role, ideal for someone who takes pride in their work and enjoys practical problem-solving in a dynamic environment.
About You
We're looking for someone who:
* Has good DIY and general maintenance skills
* Is reliable, adaptable, and able to work independently or as part of a team
* Takes pride in maintaining a safe and attractive school environment
* Is proactive and committed to supporting our school community
Experience in a similar facilities or site maintenance role is desirable but not essential - training will be provided for the right candidate.
