Support Assistant - Weekends - £10,031 per annum
We are seeking a compassionate and proactive individual to join our team as a Support Assistant within our supported accommodation service. The ideal candidate will have experience in a care or support environment, along with a strong understanding of trauma and psychologically informed approaches. You will remain calm under pressure, work effectively both independently and as part of a team, and demonstrate strong literacy and numeracy skills. We value individuals who are digitally savvy, comfortable with agile working, and committed to challenging discrimination in all its forms. A positive, 'cando' attitude is essential, as is the ability to build trusting relationships and respond constructively to challenges. You will be expected to role model Taff's core values: always learning, ambitious, courageous, and kind.
What you'll do...
Working weekends on a rolling shift pattern in accordance with the service rota. Supporting vulnerable young women who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, helping them to make positive changes in their lives. This involves building trusting relationships and taking a "work-with approach" to support residents in achieving their goals and successfully moving on into independent accommodation. Responsibilities include following the support plans agreed by service users and their support officers, as well as adhering to safety and risk plans designed to maintain the safety of the project.
What you'll bring to the role...
* Experience of working in a care or support environment
* Understanding of the impact of trauma and working in a psychologically informed way
* The ability to respond in a calm and composed manner
* The ability to work on own initiative, as well as part of a team
* Good literacy and numeracy skills
* Ability to work waking night shifts
* A positive approach to tackling project wide issues and responding positively to residents
* Experience of managing challenging behaviour and resolving conflict
