Job Title: Controls Engineer Location: Winchester, Hampshire (Hybrid options available) Salary: Up to £60,000 per annum (depending on experience) Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent About the Role: Were seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to join our engineering team in Winchester. Youll be responsible for the design, development, programming, and commissioning of control systems for a range of automation and industrial projects. This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge systems across manufacturing, process, and automation sectors. Key Responsibilities: Design and develop control system architectures for automated machinery and industrial processes. Create PLC, HMI, and SCADA software from concept through to commissioning. Specify control system components including sensors, actuators, drives, and instrumentation. Produce detailed electrical drawings, control panel layouts, and documentation. Commission systems both in-house and on client sites (UK and occasionally overseas). Troubleshoot, test, and optimise control systems to meet project specifications. Collaborate closely with mechanical, electrical, and software teams to deliver integrated solutions. Support clients with technical guidance and aftersales service when required. Key Skills & Experience: Proven experience as a Controls Engineer, Automation Engineer, or similar role. Strong knowledge of PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Mitsubishi preferred). Experience with HMI/SCADA systems (e.g. WinCC, FactoryTalk, Wonderware). Good understanding of industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Modbus, etc.). Ability to read and produce electrical schematics (EPLAN or AutoCAD Electrical desirable). Experience with motion control and drive systems is advantageous. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Willingness to travel occasionally for site commissioning. Qualifications: Degree or HND/HNC in Electrical, Electronic, or Control Engineering (or equivalent experience). Full UK driving licence. Whats on Offer: Salary up to £60,000 (DOE).
