We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated Registered Nurse(s)/Level 1 to compliment the ward based inpatients team for 9 month secondment(s) to cover maternity leave.

The Gynaecology Unit is a busy and friendly unit comprising inpatient and outpatient services relating to gynaecology, oncology, early pregnancy assessment including an abortion service, emergency admissions and fertility services.
The successful applicant(s) will work primarily within the inpatient team; based on Ward G1 within the Royal Hallamshire Hospital. A commitment to individualised patient care within the PROUD values of the Trust, evidence-based practice is essential.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will have relevant post- registration acute nursing experience within an inpatient area and provide high quality patient care whilst working within the multidisciplinary health care team.
Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for inpatients and emergency admissions using the Lorenzo software programme.
To maintain effective communication skills with patients, relatives and healthcare team.
To act sensitively, confidentially and with empathy in demonstrating understanding of wide ranging physical and emotional needs.
To maintain accurate, contemporaneous and timely care records, both written and electronic.
To act within a framework of Healthcare Governance.
Protect, improve and preserve patients health by adherence to infection control policies and practice.
Exercise professional judgement by applying skills and knowledge to the safe custody and administration of drugs via EPMA.
Support students and healthcare assistants; demonstrating exemplary practice.
Ensure compliance with NMC Post registration education and re-registration standards.
Work with Trust guidelines, policies and procedures, NMC code of conduct seeking advice as necessary from the health care team.

This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for a period of 9 months due to maternity leave of the substantive post holder. The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts and statutory maternity provisions
