At Manchester Metropolitan University, we are committed to supporting every student to achieve their full potential. We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Student Services Triage Caseworker to join our dynamic Student Services team. This is a pivotal role, directly contributing to student retention, progression, and satisfaction by providing timely, coordinated support to students in high-risk and priority groups.
About the Role
As a Student Services Triage Caseworker, you will act as a single point of contact for students requiring additional support, ensuring they receive the right help at the right time. You will assess student needs, triage queries, offer advice, and manage cases that require closer monitoring. Working closely with specialist teams, you will help streamline support and reduce the need for students to navigate multiple services independently.
Key Responsibilities
* Monitor student absences and proactively contact students identified as at risk or in need of targeted support, particularly within priority groups such as Disability Services and Counselling, Mental Health and Wellbeing (CMHWB) Services.
* Assess student needs through shared information and engagement with support services, prioritising actions and coordinating support as a caseworker.
* Collaborate with specialist teams (e.g., CMHWB, Disability Services) to ensure a cohesive, multidisciplinary approach to student support.
* Work closely with Senior Student Engagement Advisers to manage cases flagged for university risk panels, acting as a key point of contact and ensuring accurate information sharing.
* Identify and prioritise support pathways for disabled applicants/students, ensuring compliance with the Equality Act, timely contact and referrals, and completion of follow-up actions.
* Manage student referrals for support, including within Freshservice, providing advice and guidance and triaging students to the correct support service.
* Provide flexible support across the wider Student Services team, including frontline, administrative, advisory, or project support in line with our ‘One Student Services' vision.
About You
You will have experience in a student support, casework, or advisory role, with a strong understanding of the challenges facing students in higher education. You will be an excellent communicator, able to build rapport with students and colleagues, and have a proactive, solution-focused approach. Experience working with students with disabilities or mental health needs is highly desirable.
To apply, please submit your CV and covering letter (of no more than 2 pages) via our application portal.
