We have a fantastic opportunity for a UK Infrastructure and Utilities Manager to join our Central Engineering team. Responsible for two direct reports, the UK Infrastructure and Utilities Project Manager and UK Infrastructure and Utilities Graduate. The UK Infrastructure and Utilities Manager will identify and drive strategic utility and infrastructure projects aligned with Bakkavor's goal to maintain compliance with statutory legislation, ensuring UK sites infrastructure and utilities are resilient and 'fit for the future' and identify opportunities to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions. The role requires an SME with the capability to apply multidisciplined engineering skills and knowledge to create and validate capital proposals from engineering first principles. You will also be required to provide project governance and possess the gravitas to direct and steer projects to ensure a successful outcome. The role requires strong communication skills. You will be delivering presentations at all levels to both internal and external stakeholders and lead the Building and Infrastructure Strategy pillar of the Engineering Strategy. This role reports to the General Manager - Central Engineering Job Responsibilities. • Champion SHE compliance across the UK estate. • Champion the Central Engineering standards and support the monthly Engineering Forum meetings. • Evolve and continuously review the Central Engineering Strategy. • Define and lead the Building & Infrastructure Strategy Pillar. • Take a lead role in the Engineering Strategy Pillars. • Lead the creation of the utilities improvement strategy to meet organisational goals. • Define and identify UK operational data and information for assets. • Create and evolve the estate strategy for the intervention and mitigation options for the failure of assets. • Create and evolve strategies to identify and prioritise the asset needs using whole life cost and multi-criteria decision making. • Lead and develop infrastructure plans to meet organisational goals. • Review estate energy/performance data and information. • Develop the estate strategy to identify and maximise energy efficiency, working alongside the UK Engineering Energy and Sustainability Manager. • As an SME, support an effective root cause analysis programme. • Generate an effective impact and contingency solution for assets. • Perform due diligence for capital investments, prioritise investment needs and/or to inform asset management decision making. • Develop and present reports, for example, internal performance reports, asset management plans, reports to sector specific regulators and certifying bodies. • Provide advice and guidance as an SME, to Central Engineering and site teams on the most appropriate solution for an event or occasion. • Initiate strategies to identify infrastructure compliance to meet legislative requirements. • Identification of engineering solutions to drive the carbon reduction plan. • Support effective impact and contingency plans for utilities and infrastructure obsolescence and dilapidation. Lead consultation with subject matter experts. • Develop, prioritise, track delivery and report utility improvement initiatives. • Identify external suppliers, the setting of objectives and direct the Procurement team to support the development of SLAs. • Leads infrastructure and utility management. • Governance of technical engineering performance reviews. • Standardise and review engineering documentation to ensure it is current. • Seek the best available technology to optimise energy efficiency. • Review and challenge the sign-off any new energy/infrastructure requirements within capital projects. • Identify and support learning and development opportunities where required. • Administrative activities to support the delivery of the engineering strategy. • Management of day-to-day HR activities for direct reports. Qualifications/Skills/ Experience Mandatory • Functional Skills: Level 2* in Maths & English at grade C or above*. (*or equivalent). • Engineering Apprenticeship and/or Engineering Technical Qualification Level 3 or above. • Food Safety Qualification Level 2 and Level 3 (achieve within 12 months). • IOSH Managing Safely. Desirable • Engineering apprenticeship (C&G/EAL NVQ Level 3/4 or OAL FDEM Diploma). • Supplementary Engineering Qualifications. • Current Edition of IET Wiring Regulations (C&G Level 3) • ILM level 3 or above. • NEBOSH General Certificate/Diploma. • NEBOSH Diploma/Construction. • Project management - Prince 2 or PMP.
