Siemens Mobility Limited
Engineer

Offer description

At Siemens Mobility, we’re leading the way in connecting rail, road, and logistics to create smarter, more efficient transport systems. Our Mobile Communications team based in Poole plays a key role in this mission, delivering cutting-edge onboard communication solutions to rail operators around the world.

From GSM-R cab radios with GPS and LTE to next-gen systems based on 4G and 5G (FRMCS) technology, we’re shaping the future of rail communications. It’s an exciting time to join us as we develop the next wave of innovative technology.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll be at the heart of ensuring our products meet the highest standards—technically, legally, and operationally. Here’s how you’ll make an impact:

1. Lead Product Approvals
Manage the certification process for our Mobile Comms products, working closely with external auditors and Notified Bodies to ensure compliance with UK and EU regulations.
2. Product Lifecycle support and strategy
Help keep our products well-documented and compliant from design to delivery, collaborating with product management, engineering teams and our test lab. Contribute to future product roadmaps by identifying key features and helping define product specifications.
3. Collaborate on Sales Tenders
Work with the Sales team to develop smart technical solutions for customer bids, including writing compliance statements and technical responses. Help the Bid team prepare documentation on Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Life Cycle Costs.
4. Stay Ahead of Standards
Keep up with changes in industry regulations and make sure our products—and records—stay up to date and legally compliant. Represent Siemens in UK and European working groups, helping to develop new standards like FRMCS and ensuring our voice is heard.
5. Guide, Advice and contribute
Support other teams by interpreting new standards, identifying what’s needed to stay compliant, and helping solve technical challenges. Provide compliance and product support for both internal initiatives and customer-facing projects.

What You’ll Bring

6. A degree in engineering or a related field (Chartered status or working towards it is a plus)
7. Technical background and/or experience within regulated industry delivering products and/or projects.
8. Strong IT skills, especially in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
9. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills—both written and verbal
10. Flexible and a collaborative mindset with the ability to work across teams and disciplines
11. A willingness to learn the ins and outs of our products, including software, electronics, and communications

This role demands communication and interpersonal skills, as you will collaborate with teams across the business to understand and deliver solutions to the customer, including Software and Hardware Development teams, Sales, Accounting and Production, as well as external stakeholders across the globe.

The role is primarily based in the Poole office (with some home working possible); however, national and international travel to participate in external meetings, testing or other industry leading activities will be required.

You’ll benefit from …

Our compensation package includes a competitive salary, holiday allowance and pension. We celebrate the fact that our employees are individuals and have different wants and needs. With this in mind, we have a flexible benefits scheme where you can tailor your benefits package to suit you.

At Siemens, we promote a growth mindset, the self-belief that we can learn and grow, take on new challenges and adapt to change. If you don't match all the criteria for this role but feel you have transferable skills to enable you to succeed, we encourage you to apply.

Siemens recognise that building a diverse workforce is critical to the success of our business. We strongly encourage applications from a diverse talent pool and welcome the opportunity to discuss flexibility requirements with our applicants to encourage agile working and innovation.
