Environmental Health Officer
Location: Belfast
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week (includes night shift working)
Pay Rate: £ per hour
Key Responsibilities
1. Deliver enforcement, investigative, advisory and educational duties across Environmental Health and related legislation, in line with work programmes and managerial direction.
2. Carry out inspections, investigations and risk assessments across a range of premises, vehicles and environments, assessing compliance and determining appropriate actions.
3. Review and assess technical reports, plans and correspondence, liaising with internal and external specialists and preparing reports and recommendations for the Council.
4. Investigate complaints, conduct sampling, and complete all associated administrative and IT-based tasks.
5. Act as an authorised officer, determining and undertaking appropriate legal or non-statutory action, including PACE interviews, serving notices, preparing prosecution cases and attending court or hearings.
6. Contribute to community education and health promotion initiatives, including media engagement where appropriate.
7. Work in partnership with internal teams, external agencies and elected Members, providing specialist Environmental Health advice and responding to enquiries as required.
Essential Criteria
Applicants must, as at the closing date for receipt of application forms:

A qualified Environmental Health Officers who hold a Certificate of Registration of the Environmental Health Officers Registration Board or hold a qualification acceptable to the Board, that is, Diploma in Environmental Health awarded by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) or a historical equivalent; and
9. possess a full, current driving licence
