Overview
We are looking for a new Collections Registrar to join our registrar team who support object acquisition, lending, borrowing, and other collections activities across the museum. The next two years will be a busy time for the team as the museum prepares for opening at Smithfield, and the final exit from London Museum Spaces.
Working alongside curators, conservators, collection care and documentation colleagues, this post will facilitate and coordinate collections activities such as loan, entry, exit, acquisition, and disposal. This is an exciting opportunity to work with the museum’s extensive collections.
Responsibilities
* Carry out tasks with a high degree of accuracy and solve complex and challenging logistical and documentation issues.
* Coordinate collections activities across sites and stores, including loan, entry, exit, acquisition and disposal.
* Work with the registrar team to support object acquisition, lending and borrowing processes.
Requirements / Qualifications
* Demonstrable recent experience of working with collections in a registrarial capacity (e.g., arranging loans and acquisitions) and knowledge of museum documentation processes.
* Practical experience of using a museum collections management system, handling and packing objects, and arranging transportation and insurance for collections.
* Experience in people management or supervisory duties, as the role will involve line management of Project Assistants.
Location and work pattern
Based at the museum’s London Wall site, but working across its sites and stores.

If shortlisted, you will be invited to an interview where you will be asked questions to understand what you share in your application, particularly how you meet the essential person specification criteria for the role and demonstrate museum behaviours. You will also be asked to complete a 30 minute long task.
